About Work-Based Learning & Pathfinder Programs

Work-Based Learning is a structured component of the Career/Technical Education curriculum that integrates classroom instruction with productive, progressive, supervised, and paid or non-paid work-based experiences in fields related to students’ career objectives. Content is planned for students through a cooperative arrangement between the school and employer as a component of work-based learning.

Pathfinder is a part of the Work-Based Learning Program for students employed in companies that traditionally have not been allowed to have employees who are under the age of 18 and/or enrolled in high school. The Pathfinder Program works in partnership with Elwood Staffing (formerly known as LyonsHR Staffing Agency) to provide employers with 'Under 18' insurance to be able to employer someone who is less than 18 years of age. Elwood Staffing also takes care of all Pathfinder student-employees payroll and more.

If you are a business owner with a desire to provide employment opportunities to high school students, please consider becoming a Work-Based Learning partner. Call Mrs. Stonecipher at 256-389-2660 Ext. 1630 for any questions you may have or to schedule a meeting.
